2017-2018 Undergraduate Catalog

Philosophy, Bachelor of Arts

The mission of the philosophy major is to produce students who demonstrate rigorous, critical, yet generous textual interpretations of key areas in the field of philosophy, as demonstrated by eloquent, creative, and clear written work and oral presentation. By providing students with a wide variety of courses both within and outside the Western canon of philosophy, the program strives to graduate students who are knowledgeable across cultures and appreciative of counter-discourses to the standard arguments in the field. This mission aligns with the institutional mission of educating students to become people of character and service, able to engage the global community and participate in the work of justice and reconciliation as is called for by our Christian mission.

The major requires the completion of 27 hours and leads to a bachelor of arts degree.
